Holiday Camp A one night camp on the last day of school - Friday, Dec 22, 2006 Fun and games at Camp McLean. Lots of card and board games before a game of Zot tag and then heading over to Campbell River park for our traditional game of predator and prey in the dark. Stein even survived his close encounter with a shoe. After the mug up snacks there was lots of energy in the sleeping loft until after midnight. In the morning we were greeted by heaps of Scouter Andrew's famous strawberry, blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes. After thoroughly cleaning Erickson (with compliments from the caretaker) we had time to help clean up some of the branches from the storms.

Fall Camp - Montague Harbour, Galiano Island
We had a great camp, hikes, ferry rides and Remembrance day service on the Nov 11, 2006 long weekend. All 11 Scouts, 1 junior leader and 6 leaders arrived on time for the 8:35 ferry from Tsawwassen. We had an interesting tour of the bridge and talk with the captain, helms woman and watch on the oldest ferry in the fleet, queen of Tsawwassen (1960). After setting up in the Group camp site and having our Remembrance Day service, we drove in heavy rain to Bodega ridge park on the northern end of Galiano Island. The rain stopped just in time for the hike along the ridge to the highest point on the island. We had eagles soaring over the tree tops and beautiful views of the islands. Scouter Hillman marked the trail for our safe return. After an excellent dinner, we enjoyed a surprise birthday cake, complete with candles, for the birthday boys, ChrisP and Ryan. Sunday we hiked around Gray point and saw the middens. After program work some went down to the dock to talk to the boaters. Sunday evening the big storm arrived and blew over tents of some of the other campers in the park. With extra tarps we all stayed dry except for Scouter Dallas and Becker. Their tent had special sprinklers about midnight so they abandoned ship for the picnic tables in the shelter. The raccoon raided the garbage cans at 3:30AM but no sign of the bucks that were in the area. After a bit of a delay we made it on the ferry home - Thank you! ferry worker Alan
We had good food and fun while practicing our leave no trace camping.
